A little about us:
Larry Cooper - I have been a blacksmith for over 2 decades and in 2008 I started manufacturing and marketing a garden tillage tool, the broadfork. I have always appreciated good quality, efficient hand tools. I certainly didn't invent this fine tool, but I have worked on the design with the intention of making the best one available.
The name Gulland is Norwegian, and translated means 'Golden Land'. It is my wife's family surname, and I chose it as the name for our broadfork company. We started our little company in the area known as Vermont Valley, near the tiny town of Black Earth, in south central Wisconsin. We now live in North Carolina.
Some of my interests are mowing with a scythe, draft oxen, timber frame carpentry, canoeing and kayaking, hiking in beautiful places, writing and dobermans.
When I’m not doing all of the above, I can be found making leather goods, knitting, spinning, growing our food, cooking, paddling a kayak, hiking the woods and taking photos. Occasionally I stop to sleep!
Please visit me at GullandArtisans where I sell the things I make. Take a look!
If you haven’t already noticed, we like chickens.

We are a small, family owned business. Our goal, in every aspect of the Gulland Broadfork design and fabrication, is that it be simple, maintainable, repairable, and of the highest quality available with no compromises. Whether you are a backyard gardener or a market grower, the Gulland Forge Broadfork will be a helpful tool you'll enjoy using for many seasons to come.
